1. Browsing Nutrition & Mineral Essentials

Unlike cattle and sheep that graze grass, goats are natural browsers that prefer woody brush, shrubs, and coarse leafy hay.

• Loose Free-Choice Minerals: Goats have high copper requirements. Never feed sheep mineral mixes to goats, as sheep mixes lack copper and will cause deficiency (faded coat, fishtail, anemia).
• Rumen Buffering: Provide clean grass hay to keep the four-chambered rumen functioning and prevent ruminal acidosis.

2. Preventive Herd Protocols

• Hoof Trimming: Trim hooves every 4 to 8 weeks with sharp shears to prevent foot rot and joint deformities.
• CDT Vaccination: Administer annual Clostridium perfringens types C & D and Tetanus vaccinations.
