1. Forage-First Digestive Health

A horse's stomach produces gastric acid 24/7. To buffer acid and prevent ulcers, horses require a minimum of 1.5% to 2.0% of their body weight in quality forage (hay/pasture) daily (15–20 lbs for a 1,000 lb horse). Concentrates and grains are supplementary and should only be fed when forage alone cannot meet caloric demands.

2. Routine Farrier & Dental Maintenance

Colic (abdominal pain) is a leading cause of equine mortality. Ensure free-choice clean water, make feed changes gradually over 10–14 days, and seek immediate veterinary care at the first sign of pawing, flank watching, or rolling.
